 
                        The 1st General Assembly hosted by Nigeria on the 9th and 10th of May 2022, was a historic gathering that set the foundation for a cohesive pan-African parliamentary voice. Held under the theme “Enhancing Africa’s Post-COVID Public Financial & Economic Recovery Through Parliamentary Leadership,” the conference served as a critical platform for dialogue, collaboration, and action among African legislatures to address shared challenges and develop sustainable solutions.
The Assembly welcomed 14 Speakers and Presidents of African Parliaments alongside senior parliamentarians, diplomats, government officials, and key stakeholders. Distinguished attendees included H.E. President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR (represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, GCON, SAN), the British High Commissioner, the U.S. Ambassador, and the Deputy Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, among others.
Discussions centered on advocating for innovative and effective public financial and economic management strategies to catalyse Africa’s post-COVID recovery. The participating delegations explored collaborative approaches to addressing common challenges and proposed legislative interventions to drive sustainable economic growth across the continent.
The Assembly concluded with the adoption of far-reaching resolutions captured in an official Communiqué, reflecting a shared commitment to fostering unity, enhancing legislative leadership, and driving actionable solutions for Africa’s development.
